Dynamic Surface Displacement System (WIP)

An optimized, reactive environment solution for mud and snow deformation. This system brings high-fidelity environmental interaction to life using a custom mesh-deformation approach. Instead of static textures, the environment physically reacts to player, object, and NPC movement in real-time. Core Features: • Raycast-Driven Interaction: Utilizes precise raycasting from the character's feet to detect movement and trigger localized displacement. • Smart Mesh Alignment: The deformation layer automatically conforms to the underlying terrain, hovering slightly above the base surface for seamless blending. • Performance Optimized: Engineered for efficiency, ensuring smooth frame rates even with active, real-time vertex updates. • Dynamic Response: Supports variable displacement depths, allowing players to leave a physical trail through the world. Status: Early Development. Currently refining deformation persistence and expanding material support for diverse environments.
